Tapachula has some unique Art-Decó architectural values and unmatched natural attractions. The city has the Tapachula Central Park (Miguel Hidalgo Park), the Church of St. Agustin and the House of Culture, while the surroundings offer exceptional opportunities to stay in touch with the nature and history of the region; the Izapa Archaeological Site, 10 km from Tapachula, shows vestiges of the Mayan culture; climbing the Tacana Volcano, north of Tapachula, is also a must since from its peak (more than 4000 meters above sea level) is possible to see the Mexico-Guatemala border.
